With the strong interest in our monthly newsletters we have decided to split the content into business and individual newsletters to keep the material relevant to the readers.  All current subscribers should receive the individual newsletter, and we have manually selected those clients we know are business owners to also receive the business newsletter.

This month’s individual newsletter contains a Super Co-contribution calculator, info on the interest as income tax discount, how to claim home office expenses, a list of occupations that are audit targets this year, a Family Tax Benefit claim refresher, and info on claiming study expenses if you are receiving Youth Allowance.  Something for everyone!

Harris Business Solutions would like to welcome our newest employee Katherine Brennan.  Katherine has recently started work in our Kilmore office as a Junior Receptionist and is working on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  Katherine comes to us from Raine and Horne Real Estate in Kilmore, is a local girl and is looking forward to meeting all of our clients, so please make her feel welcome.

Unfortunately, once again, the ATO has let us down. Current processing times for refunds are nearing 30 days, and the ATO will not escalate returns until they have at least reached 30 days. Please be aware that the ATO at this point refuses to admit this delay in writing, however we, as Tax Agents, have been verbally advised. We are speaking to the NTAA to try and get our disappointment across to the ATO, and encourage the ATO to admit guilt via a press release. Please be assured that as soon as your refunds are with us (cheque or trust) we will be forwarding them on as quickly as we can.
